About Our Club
Welcome to the St Sebastianette Archery Club website. Our shoots take place at Mission Park in St Boniface, MB, Canada from May to September each year.
Named after St Sebastian, the patron saint of archers.
Pole archery is a unique sport where archers shoot at wooden targets ("birds") placed on crossbars ("branches") mounted on either a horizontal or vertical pole. Both styles offer their own challenges and traditions.
A major difference between shooting at a horizontal fork and vertical pole is that the distance to the horizontal fork is about 60 feet and the distance to the top of the vertical pole is about 110 feet. The horizontal fork is 60 feet away from the archer's box and is slanted upwards, away from the archer. The front of the fork is 30 inches off the ground, while the tip of the fork is 50 inches off the ground. This enables the archers to see and aim at each bird. Otherwise, it is the same sport! Come out and join in the fun! Visit polearchery.ca to learn more about vertical pole archery.
The St Sebastianette Archery Club belongs to Archery Manitoba.
